The Catawba Singers
"Our Song," the Catawba Singers and the Chamber Singers second spring program, will be presented at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4 in the splendid acoustics of Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on campus. The Singers are under the direction of Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, Director of Choral Activities at Catawba, and the program is free and open to the public.
The music for this program was suggested, selected and planned by members of the chorus themselves with a wide variety of musical styles represented on the program. Each selection is a reflection on the life of the student, their highs and lows, their trials and their triumphs.
Selections by Billy Joel, Leonard Cohen, Freddie Mercury, Randall Thompson and George Gershwin will take center stage. Of special note is the world-premiere performance of "Alone" by Catawba senior Allison Andrews of Sherrills Ford.
