"Prepared Communities Win" Program Slated at Catawba College on September 9

Catawba College's Ketner School of Business will host a presentation - "Prepared Communities Win," at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in cooperation with the Salisbury - Rowan Economic Development Commission. This complimentary program in the Tom E. Smith Auditorium in Ketner Hall on the campus of Catawba College begins with refreshments at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required as seating is limited to 150 participants.

Mark Sweeney of McCallum Sweeney Consulting Sweeney of McCallum Sweeney Consulting, a national leader in the field of industrial site selection, will be the keynote speaker for this event. He is a senior principal in McCallum Sweeney Consulting (MSC) in Greenville, S.C., providing site selection services and economic development consulting to companies and organizations worldwide. Recent MSC clients include LM Glasfiber, PACCAR, Berg Pipe, Cytec Materials, Oreck, Nissan, and Michelin.

With more than 19 years experience in site selection and economic development, Mr. Sweeney assists companies in identifying, evaluating and selecting the optimal location for their capital investments. His presentation, "Prepared Communities Win," will provide an overview of the process and key criteria involved in location decisions and examples of how communities can compete more effectively to secure new job creation and taxable investment. Numerous case studies will be cited and ample time will be provided for questions.
