Two upcomingEvents sponsored by the Catawba College Center for the Environment will be of special interest to individuals who are committed to a sustainable future for this region.

On March 22, 2006, the Center will host an air quality conference entitled "Clean Air: Community Strategies for Action" at the Center for the Environment building on the Catawba College campus in Salisbury. It is designed for local government employees, school system administrators, health care educators, teachers, Chamber of Commerce members, real estate professionals, developers, builders and interested citizens. The conference promises to engage communities in finding reasonable solutions to the air quality challenges they face.

Partners for the event are the Centralina Council of Governments SEQL, Environmental Protection Agency, Land-of-Sky Regional Council, N.C. Conservation Network, N.C. Division of Air Quality and the city of Salisbury.

On April 21-22, the Center will partner with the Downtown Salisbury Association and the Charlotte Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council for an Earth Day celebration that will feature a Sustainability Fair highlighting environmentally friendly products and technologies.

The event will be held in downtown Salisbury and at the Catawba Center for the Environment facility. For more information, contact Willa Mays at 704.637.4295 or
