No. The Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program has a competitive admission process. During the spring, the student submits a completed application to the BSN program. -
What is the necessary GPA for admission to the Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program?
The minimum required GPA is 2.5. However, a minimum GPA of 3.0 is recommended. A letter grade of “C” or better is required for all science courses. -
What courses must I have completed in order to apply for admission to the Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program?

Do I have to be a CNA to apply for admission to the Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program?
No. Being a CNA is good preparation, but is not a requirement. -
When do I apply for admission to the Pre- Licensure BSN Degree Program?
Students are eligible to apply to the major once all admissions criteria has been met. This typically happens in the spring semester of a student’s sophomore year. -
How often are students admitted into the Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program?
Admission occurs once yearly in the spring semester. -
If I do not make the minimum score on the TEAS test, will I still be eligible to apply to the program?
Yes. You are still eligible to apply. Students with a TEAS score slightly below the proficient level and a GPA above 3.0 may be eligible for admission to the program. -
If I apply to the Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program and don’t get in, does the College provide additional options?
Catawba College has a variety of exceptional programs to consider as alternative possibilities to the nursing major. Please explore the College’s website for additional options. -
Do I have to complete all curriculum pre-requisites before applying to the program?
Provisional admission may be granted if a student is completing curriculum pre-requisites in the term (spring semester) prior to matriculation into the Pre-Licensure BSN Degree Program.
