Adopt a Theatre Arts Senior

Theatre Arts Seniors 2025

The "Adopt a Senior" program is an exciting program for Catawba College Theatre Arts seniors that features YOU — our alumni!

We're asking for volunteer alums to "Adopt a Senior." We envision this as a mini-mentorship program that would connect individual seniors to volunteer alums who would act as touch points as these students prepare to leave Catawba and enter "the profession" or perhaps some related area of professional life! With this commitment, we are asking you to be available to your selected student via e-mail so that they may ask you questions. These questions may range from specifics about living in a certain city or part of the country, to job search strategies, to what it is like to work in a specific area of the discipline.

Please select a student or students that you feel most able to mentor and e-mail them directly using the links provided, using "Adopt a Senior Mentor" as your subject line. Introduce yourself, and you're on your way! Thank you for your willingness to participate!

A Little Bit About Me: Hi, I’m Autumn, and I’m a senior from Lake Mary, Florida. I’m getting a BFA in theatre production and design and BA in Music Business. I’m also a very involved student on campus with serving as a Head Resident Assistant and the Executive Vice President for SGA. I love being able to work and create events, more specifically in music. I’ve started looking into getting my Master's Themed Experience. One of my priorities is to either work with a tour company, whether that be in theatre or music. I would also love to work festivals like the ones Danny Wimmer Productions puts on or the CMAs, I just love festival atmosphere and people. I also have an interest in working at the theme parks, putting on their shows, but also getting to stage manage or act in haunted houses like Halloween Horror Nights. I would love to hear any advice from anyone as well. Or just listen and talk about stories. Or possibly any opportunities.

My primary interest is in management, specifically House Management, but I also enjoy performing and working tech on shows. I have been a stage technician for four years, have been managing for two, and have been performing all my life! I come from the southern town of Rockingham, NC, where theatre is not very prominent, so theatre is still very new to me! Some hobbies include, well, performing, thrifting, spending time with people I love, and getting cozy in bed with a cup of tea and a good book. I have a white calico named Boo (she accidentally coined the name Boobie...) who is attached to me at the hip. I also have a ragdoll tabby mix named Eveie and a 1-month-old tuxedo cat named Binx. I love cats, fashion, theatre, specialty coffees, classical music, and my favorite colors are purple and black! I pride myself in my work and morals and want to find a community where that behavior is reciprocated!

I am humbled by the opportunities I have been given here, onstage and off, such as assistant directing and lighting designing. I am currently the Business Manager of our APO chapter. In past years, I was the Blue Masque’s service chair and social chair. I am also an English minor and a current employee of the Catawba College Writing Center. I have a great work ethic, strong communication skills, and a passion for theater. I love the community it creates and the artistry it promotes. Theatre has been such an important part of my life, and I love getting to learn and grow through every new experience. For the past two summers, I’ve worked as a Summer Teaching Artist at the Lexington Children’s Theatre, which was such a joy! I love sharing my passion for theatre—whether that’s performing on stage, working behind the scenes, or teaching others. Honestly, I’ve dabbled in just about every area of theatre, and I haven’t found one I don’t enjoy yet. At Catawba, I serve as the Social Chair for the Blue Masque, sing in the choir, and have worked in the scene shop all four years. A little more about me: Hello! My name is Skye (they/them/theirs), and I am currently pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Music here at Catawba. My main focus since arriving on campus has been on performance, whether it be in musicals or straight plays. During the second semester of my Junior Year, I had the great pleasure of working as a swing for the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. This year, I was cast as Bobby Strong in Catawba’s production of Urinetown. In addition to performance, I have also taken a keen interest in improvisation, serving as the Treasurer of the “Where Are the Diamonds?” Improv Troupe my Junior year. This academic year (25-26), I am the acting President of the troupe. I was also given the opportunity to serve as Assistant Stage Manager (and Deck Manager) for the production of Love/Sick and broaden my experience with technical roles. If any of you have advice, comments, questions, or resources you’d like to share, I would love to listen!

Post graduation, I primarily would like to focus on Arts Administration and start finding opportunities to learn and help lead a theatre as part of their management team. I was hired at Williamstown Theatre Festival this past summer (’24) as an Assistant Company Manager to broaden my horizons, but I wish to continue pushing myself to eventually have enough knowledge to act as an Executive Director. If you have any advice, opportunities, or just want to sit and share your story and/or talk about mine, I would love to hear from you!

I'm a Black, Queer, Neurodivergent artist, and I'd love to connect with diverse alumni working in the industry! My primary performance work has been as a dance captain and swing in several musical productions. I'd prefer to tour as a performer post-college, but until I book, I've networked as a costume designer and teaching artist in Raleigh! I've also worked as a choreographer, merchandise seller (SIX & The Lion King), assistant stage manager, Front-of House, etc. In plays, I've appreciated smaller companies and opportunities to devise physical theatre pieces.
