Adopt a Theatre Arts Senior
The "Adopt a Senior" program is an exciting program for Catawba College Theatre Arts seniors that features YOU — our alumni!
We're asking for volunteer alums to "Adopt a Senior." We envision this as a mini-mentorship program that would connect individual seniors to volunteer alums who would act as touch points as these students prepare to leave Catawba and enter "the profession" or perhaps some related area of professional life! With this commitment, we are asking you to be available to your selected student via e-mail so that they may ask you questions. These questions may range from specifics about living in a certain city or part of the country, to job search strategies, to what it is like to work in a specific area of the discipline.
Please select a student or students that you feel most able to mentor and e-mail them directly using the links provided, using "Adopt a Senior Mentor" as your subject line. Introduce yourself, and you're on your way! Thank you for your willingness to participate!

A little more about me: Hi! I’m Sarah, and I’m a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina. I’m finishing up my BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance. I’m planning on attending UPTAs and SETC this year, and my goal is to get on a national tour in the next few years. I’d love to do any professional musical theatre work, contemporary, Golden Age/classical, or even operettas. I also love music composition, and I have some work I would love to have published. I’ve had a couple teaching assistant positions in dance, but I would love to get more experience with teaching and choreography. My primary areas are ballet and musical theatre. I have some friends and family who live in the DC area, and if I don’t get a job touring, I hope to move to the DC area by the fall of 2025. I would most likely want to live in one of the suburbs like Arlington, so that I could commute into the city. I’m also finishing up my senior honors thesis, which is an analysis of the standing of arts education today, and who is allowed access to the arts. |

A little more about me: Hello! My name is Skyler! I am a BA Theatre Arts major. I am originally from Florida, but I moved here when I was younger, and I was raised here in North Carolina, and I currently live in China Grove. My love for theatre started when I was in my first year of high school at Jesse C Carson High School. At first, I did not really think of theatre as an interest for me but then I took beginning drama class, and I fell in love at first sight. I auditioned for my first show that same year and every year leading to senior year of high school, I was heavily involved with theatre every year, even right now in college as a senior. My theatre experience so far has led me to grow my theatre skills and leadership skills, especially working with others in the acting field and the tech field because I have a love for both tech and acting. But I am so glad to explore and can grow on the acting and technical sides of theatre and doing both. I want to continue and dive deeper with these skills I’ve learned and have bigger opportunities to continue what I love doing in acting and tech. Fun facts about me is I also love to sing and draw. I am also a barista outside of theatre. I love trying new things, especially new opportunities. |

A little more about me: I’m a senior BFA in Performance major, who loves every aspect of the theatre. This summer I did a comprehensive Entertainment Tech internship at Disney. I also am directing The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson as my Blue Masque production this year, as well as doing an honors thesis on using theatre to put the spotlight on Women’s History. I was drawn to the theatre because of its expressiveness. Theatre gave me an outlet to use my deep emotional sense as a strength to be harnessed rather than a weakness to be hidden. |

A little more about me: Hello, I’m Lindsey! I am a BFA Theatre major with a concentration in Design and Production and a Business Administration minor. I transferred to Catawba after completing my Associate in Arts in 2023. I’ve enjoyed working several theatre positions over the last year and a half from A2/run crew for Jekyll and Hyde The Musical, to costume designing for Natural Shocks and the world premiere of The Sunnyview Elementary Art Show. For my fall semester of senior year, I look forward to set designing and being Technical Director for The Revolutionists. I love getting to be a part of the team to bring each story to life! |

A little more about me: As a person surrounded by construction work growing up, I found a love for identifying and solving problems. Once I found my way into a theater in the second grade I never left. With a plethora of interests including sports and traveling, theater remains my favorite of all. I have experience in all areas of design and execution when it comes to technical theater, but I have also performed onstage and served as a director. I pride myself on an unmatched work ethic and quality production no matter the task assigned to me. |

I am currently the President of the “Where are the Diamonds” Improv Team, and I have been in this role for the past 2 years. I’m very good with improvisation and accent work. I am also a Tenor! I’ve actually been acting in plays and musicals consistently since I was in 4th grade. Currently, I am almost at my 60th show! |

A little more about me: Howdy do! My name is Camden, and I am a double major BS Theatre Arts Administration and BFA Performance (Directing) Major, with a minor in Business Administration! I strive to consistently challenge myself to learn more about our art form and business, leading myself to be present in (almost) every facet of theatre! For my senior year, I am challenging myself in each of my focuses: I will be directing our Mainstage Production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; I am starting a Market Segmentation of Salisbury in regards to Theatrical Production Companies, focused on receiving feedback from the general populous and contrasting that feedback with various Mission Statements; and I was elected Blue Masque President for the second year in a row (’23-’25) to continue cultivating my management skills. Post graduation, I primarily would like to focus on Arts Administration and start finding opportunities to learn and help lead a theatre as part of their management team. I was hired at Williamstown Theatre Festival this past summer (’24) as an Assistant Company Manager to broaden my horizons, but I wish to continue pushing myself to eventually have enough knowledge to act as an Executive Director. If you have any advice, opportunities, or just want to sit and share your story and/or talk about mine, I would love to hear from you! |

A little more about me: Hello, I’ve lived in North Carolina my entire life and would love to get out and work in places I have never been before. I’ve always been scared of cruises but lately I’ve been intrigued by other actors who I have seen working on cruise ships. I’m really excited to get out there and start working in the industry! |
