Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks applicants for its Area Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life position. The Area Coordinator is pivotal in fostering a vibrant and supportive residential community at Catawba College. This live-in position oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned residential areas, providing leadership in student development, crisis management, and community building. The coordinator supervises a team of Resident Assistants (RAs) and collaborates closely with campus partners to enhance the overall student experience within the residential community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Directly supervise and facilitate Catawba Resident Assistant's recruitment, training, and development.
- Consistent with the Catawba Mission and Student Affairs priorities, create and implement a team development plan that includes, but is not limited to, individual meetings, weekly staff meetings, and team bonding activities.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Resident Assistants (RAs) to ensure adequate support and programming within assigned residential areas.
- Develop and implement community-building initiatives and residence hall programs that promote student engagement, inclusivity, and personal growth.
- Serve as a conduct officer, adjudicating student conduct cases and maintaining accurate documentation by college policies.
- Coordinate residence hall openings and closings, including room inspections, key distribution, and related administrative tasks.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and serve in an on-call rotation to support students and enforce policies.
- Collaborate with Facilities Management for maintenance and custodial needs within residential facilities.
- Assist with selecting, training, and evaluating RAs and other residence life staff members.
- Participate in departmental and campus-wide committees and initiatives as assigned.
- Participate in on-call rotation with other Residence Life and Housing staff; work cooperatively with Academic Affairs, Chaplain Office, Catawba Public Safety, Student Health Services, Catawba counselors, and other campus and community resources to assist in emergencies and crises.
- Contribute to an effective unit by completing special projects and performing other duties assigned by the Dean of Students.
- On Call & Crisis Management
- Serve in on-call crisis management rotation for the campus.
- Provide emergency response and crisis management as needed on campus and for staff.
- Develop a residence hall on-call program with the Resident Assistants to ensure 24-hour, seven-day coverage in the residence halls
- Other Duties as Assigned by the President and/or the Executive Vice President and Provost or Dean of Students

ABOUT CATAWBA:
Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers valleys. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution, and the first woman to graduate completed her studies in 1893. The selected candidate will provide support to guide, advise, and supervise Catawba’s Office of Housing and Residence Life, further Catawba’s Mission through programs developed and implemented by Housing and Residence Life, and administer the overall educational and managerial responsibilities within the office. The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for assisting the management of all college residence hall facility operations and supervising all residence life functions (on and off campus).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Directly supervise and facilitate the recruitment, training, and development of Catawba Resident Assistants and the Area Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life (i.e., Graduate Students).
- Create and implement a team development plan that includes, but is not limited to, individual meetings, weekly staff meetings, and team bonding activities.
- Guide Resident Assistants and Area Coordinators in supporting the departmental mission and vision to cultivate communities focused on belonging, inclusivity, well-being, academic success, and engaged citizenship.
- Conduct meetings with individual resident assistants and the Area Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life and provide a framework for weekly staff meetings.
- Assess all staff members' needs, interests, and expectations through ongoing feedback, development, and job action if needed.
- Develop and lead community-wide programs and activities that contribute to residents' academic and personal development and create a positive atmosphere for residents and guests.
- Serve as a positive role model, ensure personal visibility, and be available to residents by completing weekly office hours; serve as a department liaison to parents/guardians and students by mediating disputes and conflicts about student concerns and departmental and Catawba policies.
- Assess student development needs and concerns; work with Academic and Student Affairs staff to interpret, communicate, and enforce Catawba policies, rules, and regulations.
- Adjudicate residence hall-level conduct incidents timely, including notice and hearing of documented incidents.
- Conduct a monthly walk-through of all residence halls to monitor the physical condition of the buildings with facilities, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Coordinate developing and implementing a health and safety inspection plan for each residence hall at least one per semester.
- Review and update all residence life and housing policies to ensure the safety of residents in our (on—and off-campus) facilities.
- Manage damage billing, accountability/conduct-related billing, and all other billing processes.
- Ensure work orders are submitted for health and safety inspections and closing processes.
- Serve on Catawba committees at the direction of the Director of Housing & Residence Life, Dean of Students, and/or, Executive Vice President and Provost
- Participate in on-call rotation with other Housing and Residence Life staff; work cooperatively with Academic Affairs, Chaplain Office, Catawba Public Safety, Student Health Services, Catawba counselors, and other campus and community resources to assist in emergencies and crises.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Understand and express the mission, values, and unique offerings of Catawba College
- Collaborate with admissions leadership to create annual goals and objectives that align with the College’s Strategic Plan
- Oversee a strategic arm(s) of enrollment such as athletic recruitment, scholarship programs, enrollment marketing, alumni and parent engagement, staff development and training, vendor relations, etc.
- Serve as a second reader, provide admission decisions, and participate in admission committee discussions.
- Strengthen ties with school and community college counselors/advisors and other key influencers in the recruitment process.
- Professionally represent the College at college fairs, college nights, and other events to recruit prospective students.
- Recruit, counsel, and enroll prospective students to meet the College’s enrollment goals through extensive outreach and relationship-building activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Three to five years of admissions experience and a working knowledge of admissions processes, procedures, and systems are preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Day and evening travel are required, and job functions are routinely performed outside of the primary office on campus or in off-campus locations. Participation in admissions events in the evenings and on weekends is an essential role of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and movement are required. This would require the ability to lift files and file boxes, open filing cabinets, walking, bending, or standing as necessary.

The Goodman School of Education at Catawba College seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor of Education, with a specialty in mathematics education. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate mathematics education courses and courses in other areas of possible content/pedagogy expertise. Responsibilities may include day and/or evening classes, with the possibility of summer coursework opportunities, courses in the First Year Seminar program, and courses in the College Honors Program. Successful applicants will have a background in mathematics education, familiarity with both face-to-face and online instruction, and K-12 public school experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in supervision of teacher candidates in their field experiences. Experience with technology education courses and with edTPA is preferred.
The faculty member is expected to:
- Prepare and teach specified courses
- Supervise students in field experiences
- Advise students
- Promote the School of Education majors and minors
- Provide service to the department and college
- Maintain an active program of research/scholarly activity
- Foster professional relationships with public school and community college partners

The successful candidate must have:
- Doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field
- Mathematics Education Certification/licensure (or eligibility)
- Familiarity with teaching, learning, and educational theories
- Knowledge of current national and state standards
- Ability to work collegially and seek opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in K-12 schools
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience teaching mathematics education courses at the college level
- Ability to teach courses in other areas of content/pedagogy expertise
- Experience with edTPA
- Experience with culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse students
- Experience in the field of technology education and in modeling technology use in educational settings
This position will be a full-time faculty position and may be tenure-track or non-tenure track, depending upon the qualifications of the applicant. Full-time faculty are expected to participate on committees, attend faculty and School of Education meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with the standards of the College. Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks applicants for the position of Collections Associate, Corriher-Linn-Black Library, Catawba College. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this position is responsible for the receiving and copy cataloging of materials in all formats, including archival materials, training and supervision of physical processing of materials, and supervision of student assistants at Help Desk as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Utilize library software to perform cataloging of received materials in various formats.
- Utilize library software to create metadata for archival materials.
- Participate in inventory, weeding, and other special projects.
- Train and supervise student assistants assigned to the Collections area in the processing of materials, shifting of books, and other related tasks.
- Assist Help Desk personnel with the coverage of the Help Desk when needed.
- As primary backup for the Help Desk supervisor, desk coverage may include evening and/or weekend hours. The regular schedule for this position when classes are in session is either 9 am – 6 pm or 10 am – 7 pm.
- Provide customer service at Help Desk to a variety of patrons, including Faculty, Staff, Students, Alumni, and Community Borrowers
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Library Services
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:

Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks applicants for its Coordinator of Campus Programming position. The Coordinator of Campus Programming is responsible for collaborating with the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Students for programming events hosted by Student Affairs and Campus Life. The Coordinator of Campus Programming assists with program development, event logistics, marketing and promotion efforts, implementation, and post-event feedback mechanisms. This position also supports student outreach and connection efforts for Student Affairs and Campus Life. Manages social media engagement and maintains the department website.

Coordinate and oversee the “communities of practice” (COPs) offered by the Catawba Clergy Network, which promote the health and welfare of clergy, ministers, and religious leaders. COPs are small groups of clergy and ministers that gather monthly for learning and support. Elements of overseeing the COP program include:
- Working with clergy, religious leaders and national UCC staff. Serve as liaison to local United Church of Christ conference leaders and participate on team of UCC national COP Coordinators
- Recruiting for, communicating with, and providing ongoing support for members and facilitators of small groups.
- Training facilitators for small group work, meet with facilitators bi-monthly for ongoing education and support. Provide ongoing oversight of and support to facilitators.

The Director of Student Conduct & Deputy Title IX Coordinator is critical in fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment at Catawba College grounded in well-being, equity, and belonging (WEB). Reporting directly to the Dean of Students, this position is responsible for overseeing the administration and enforcement of the College's student conduct policies and procedures and serving as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator, ensuring compliance with Title IX regulations. The Director of Student Conduct & Deputy Title IX Coordinator collaborate with various campus stakeholders to educate, prevent, and respond to incidents of misconduct, discrimination, and harassment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Conduct, including case management, investigation, adjudication, and sanctioning processes.
- Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding student conduct policies, procedures, and Title IX regulations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive educational programs and initiatives to promote a culture of integrity, respect, and accountability among students.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including Academic Affairs, Residence Life, Public Safety, Counseling Services, Athletics, and Academic Affairs, to address behavioral concerns and support student well-being.
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into alleged violations of student conduct policies, Title IX, and related federal and state laws.
- Provide support and guidance to complainants and respondents throughout the resolution process, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and due process.
- Maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports on student conduct cases and Title IX compliance efforts through our Maxient database.
- Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and legal developments in student conduct administration and Title IX compliance.
- Assist in developing and revising college policies, procedures, and training materials related to student conduct and Title IX.
- Complete Office of Dean of Students authorization screening for current and former students.
- Serve as a designated campus security authority (CSA) and fulfill mandatory reporting obligations under the Clery Act.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with other student affairs staff; work cooperatively with Academic Affairs, Chaplain Office, Catawba Public Safety, Student Health Services, Catawba counselors, and other campus and community resources to assist in emergencies and crises.
- Contribute to an effective unit by completing special projects and performing other duties assigned by the Dean of Students.

- Serve in on-call crisis management rotation for the campus.
- Provide emergency response and crisis management as needed on campus and for staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The minimum job requirements for this position are:
- Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, student affairs, counseling, or a related field
- At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in student conduct administration, Title IX compliance, or related work with student affairs on a college/university campus. Based on background, the additional title of Assistant Dean of Students will be considered for this role for highly qualified candidates.
- Active ATIXA training certification or similarly aligned certification for Title IX or the ability to attain this within the first three months of employment
- Experience developing, implementing, and assessing strategic goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Experience in supervision/administrative role.

The person who fills this role will interact with the President and other executive leadership of the College, members of the Board of Trustees, and other leaders in the Salisbury/Rowan community, in higher education, and in non-profits and businesses. The Executive Assistant will work on a regular basis with the President of the College, the College’s Secretary to the Board and Cabinet, and the Special Assistant to the President.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position include but are not limited to, the following:
- Calendar management for the President to include making all necessary arrangements for appointments, meetings, conferences, and travel
- Work closely with the President to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, appropriately anticipating needs in advance of meetings, travel, and conferences
- Process mail, packages, and incoming documentation requiring President review and/or signature
- Serve as departmental contact for purchasing, accounts payable, and budget management activities. This includes purchasing card and budget reconciliation, and processing the President’s expense reports.
- Assist with president’s correspondence including email management
- Proofread a wide variety of documents including complex reports, letters, and memoranda.
- Provide administrative support to committees and meetings (in-person, virtual, and hybrid). This position is the Administrative Support Staff to the Board of Trustees Ad Hoc Enrollment Committee and provides administrative support as assigned for Board of Trustees meetings, including Zoom management
- Guest management for the Office of the President including greeting and assisting visitors, faculty, staff, and students, and responding to in-person, phone, and e-mail inquiries
- Manage hospitality needs for the President including thank you cards, flowers, and gifts
- Document management including Office of the President files

Position Objectives: The IT Security Analyst is responsible for creating and monitoring IT security protocols. They ensure the college aligns with government and institutional regulations and policies. They will assess, recommend, and deploy strategies to address IT-related risk.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT security strategy aligned with Catawba’s goals and objectives as well as government regulations
- Provide leadership and oversight of all facets of campus information security
- Contribute to the creation and enforcement of technology policies and procedures to ensure security and regulatory compliance.
- Identify IT threats and operational deficiencies
- Develop campus-wide IT security plans
- Monitor and manage IT security systems
- Fosters an IT compliance focused campus culture through end-user educational programs
- Participate in enterprise disaster recovery planning, enterprise security scanning and remediation, and enterprise technical audits
- Evaluates existing strategy and makes recommendations to IT Leadership for enhancements
- Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised IT security policies and procedures
- Troubleshoot issues with existing security applications and oversees enhancements as necessary.
- Serves as liaison to campus departments and organizations to ensure best practices are followed for IT security
- Research new security software, policies, and governance that may impact IT security for the campus

Qualifications:
