Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks a forward-facing Student Accounts Receivable professional to positively interact with the campus community including day to day cash management, collection activities, and coordinating relationships with all student services and academic offices to ensure the high level of customer service is provided while assisting and managing student accounts at Catawba.

Essential Functions: Knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position include but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide quality customer service in a front office setting
- Review and maintain accuracy of student account charges for tuition, room and board charges, student insurance and other student fees
- Receive and post payments from students, families and various departments on campus
- Discuss payment plan options and offer payment figures
- Provide Banner reports as requested by internal constituents.
- Daily bank deposit
- Communicate with students and their families to resolve escalated issues related to their account.
- Produce weekly repost of student accounts receivables and collection efforts.
- Release of financial holds
- Address inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff by way of telephone, e-mail and in person.
- Communicate with students regarding the collection of account balances due

- Oversee the relationship with multiple collection agencies.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and movement is required. This would require the ability to lift files and file boxes, open filing cabinets, walking, and bending or standing as necessary.
Desired Education, Skills, and Experience: Minimum Associate’s Degree required, although Bachelor’s Degree preferred. One (1) to three (3) years of accounting experience required. Successful applicant must exhibit high level of computer skills, with demonstrated strong skills using Excel. Demonstrated history of problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills along with the ability to work collaboratively with others required. Familiarity with Banner preferred, but not required. Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage assigned territory with the direction of the leadership team. Territory management will require: responsibility for meeting specific recruitment goals, performance of market research for given territory, execution of recruitment travel via high school visits and college fairs, establishing rapport with school counselors and other key school and community leaders,
- Build relationships and share the Catawba College story with prospective students (and their families) throughout the admissions funnel via in person and virtual meetings and all forms of communication- phone, email, text message, and handwritten
- Document interactions, maintain accurate records, and execute processes via customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Evaluate and execute initial admissions decisions using sound judgement and respect while maintaining confidentiality
- Lead daily information sessions to introduce visitors to Catawba College, share points of distinction, explain admissions process, and further prospective interest in the College.
- Participate in Admissions Events throughout the year: Open Houses, Scholarship Programs, Accepted Student Days, Welcome Weekend, Orientation, Summer Sips, etc.
- Responsible for completing general office duties including but not limited to: covering admissions/financial aid visits, conducting campus tours when needed, serving as Counselor of the Day (COD), receiving inbound calls, responding to emails, and other tasks
- Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, student’s parents/guardians, faculty, co-workers, and managers

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:

The Catawba College Department of Sport & Health Sciences invites applications for Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, starting date of January 2024. The candidate will provide instruction for a rapidly growing, fully online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The position will require teaching Clinical Mental Health Counseling students, facilitating clinical supervision for students in fieldwork, and curriculum maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Provide didactic and clinical instruction in graduate and undergraduate courses. Primary responsibilities will be within the graduate CMHC program, however all faculty also teach at least one undergraduate course within the counseling minor offered at Catawba College.
- Assist in curriculum development, assessment, and review.
- Maintain scholarly activity aligned with professional counselor identity.
- Engage in service, including faculty governance committees and involvement in the college and community life, as well as within the counseling profession.
- Support recruitment of a diverse student population for the CMHC program.
- Maintain in-person and virtual office hours for advising and mentorship.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited counseling program required.
- Licensure as a professional counselor (LCMHC or equivalent) required. Licensure as an addictions specialist (LCAS or equivalent) preferred.
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to quality teaching.
- Evidence of providing clinical supervision within counselor education (practicum and/or internship). Experience serving as a program fieldwork coordinator is preferred.
- Incorporate active learning strategies and effectively use in-person and online instructional technology to support classroom instruction.
- Evidence of research in the field of clinical mental health counseling and a strong promise for scholarly activity and professional service.
- Remain current with new trends and developments in the field to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, seminars and workshops.
- Active presence and participation in the Catawba College community - all CMHC faculty are required to be on campus.

General Job Description
The position presents a unique opportunity for someone who is committed to undergraduate education in a learning environment that values the personal formation of students, the exploration of vocation, and interaction with faculty and students who routinely work across varied disciplines. The Assistant Coordinator will work directly with the Catawba Honors Program and other offices within Academic Affairs. The candidate must value the ethos and rhythm of small-college life.
Responsibilities
- The Assistant Coordinator will partner with the Director and Associate Director of the Catawba Honors Program (CHP) on multiple tasks throughout the academic year to deliver an outstanding honors undergraduate experience with the goal of retaining exceptional students to the Program and the College. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Keep Honors Program rosters up to date in College’s various systems
- Communicate with students about upcoming dates/deadlines
- Manage organization memberships (North Carolina Honors Association, Southern Regional Honors Association, National Collegiate Honors Council)
- Coordinate conference travel for Director, Associate Director, and Honors students
- Work with other campus departments on College Honors Program activities (Center for International Studies, Alumni Relations, Development, Student Affairs, etc.)
- Plan/Host Honors Program events throughout the academic year
- Maintain financial records of the Honors Program and the College
- Assist in managing and compiling Honors course evaluations
- Update and manage Catawba Honors Program website
- The Assistant Coordinator also will partner with the Coordinator of Academic Affairs on multiple tasks related to Provost Office and First Year Seminar throughout the academic year including, but not limited to, the following:
- Help process faculty professional development travel, reimbursement requests, and track allocation and payments disbursed
- Help prepare/process all academic probation and suspension letters to students each semester
- Help prepare/process Dean’s List letters to students each semester and Presidential Honor Roll letters for the spring semester
- Assist with pre-term meeting week conference and logistics
- Assist the Coordinator of Academic Affairs with planning and activities related to Awards Convocation, Senior Investiture, Baccalaureate, and Commencement ceremonies

Catawba College ("Catawba") invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in English at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in August 2024.
We seek a candidate to teach and develop courses in the Creative Writing concentration (fiction and non-fiction). Successful applicants will also teach first-year writing courses and, ideally, classes in early British literature. A Ph.D. at the time of appointment is preferred; however, ABD candidates at the later dissertation stages will also be considered.
The teaching load for this position is four courses each semester, usually covering a mix of Composition, Creative Writing, and literature classes. The successful candidate will have additional opportunities to develop courses for Catawba College's Honors Program, First-Year Seminar Program, and contribute to the Pursuit (the College's interdisciplinary humanities initiative) as part of their teaching responsibilities. This position requires regular contributions to the College through faculty service appointments. The ideal candidate contributes to Catawba College's community and culture through active participation in campus life beyond the classroom and engages in ongoing scholarly activity.

The Department of Psychology at Catawba College (the “College”) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Psychology beginning August 1, 2024. The College seeks a generalist with a focus in cognitive psychology. While any specialty in cognitive psychology will be considered, the ideal candidate will regularly offer general education courses (specifically general psychology) and other courses for majors (e.g., cognitive psychology, data analysis for behavioral sciences, and topical courses in psychology). Psychology faculty work with and provide courses to majors and minors in psychology and allied fields, including Sport and Health Sciences, Nursing, Administration of Justice, Teacher Education, and Sociology. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have interests relating to health psychology, behavior modification, or another area of psychology. A regular rotation in the College’s multidisciplinary first-year seminar (along with first year advising) is expected. Applicants for this position must have a completed Ph.D. in a relevant area by August, 2024.
The College’s faculty maintain a four course per semester load and are expected to be innovative and available teachers. Excellence in the classroom is the primary focus of faculty evaluation. At the same time, the College seeks candidates who will engage in professional activities that include our students as co-participants. Such activities include, but are not limited to, traditional research but also scholarship of pedagogy (e.g., service learning, instructional technology, online pedagogy). There are opportunities for professional growth that extend beyond the psychology department in collaboration with the allied professions such as health (e.g., nutrition) and biological sciences (e.g., genomics). - Extensive teaching experience, which may include teaching assistantships, and developed strategies for student-centered pedagogies.
- Academic and pedagogical expertise in the sacred scriptures and religious literature of Judaism, Christianity, and/or Islam.

This faculty position presents a unique opportunity for a professor of religious studies who is committed to undergraduate teaching in a learning environment that values the personal formation of students, the exploration of vocation, the central role of religion in liberal education, and interaction with faculty and students who routinely work across varied disciplines. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a 4-4 course assignment during a traditional two-semester academic year, including introductory courses for non-majors. Opportunities for teaching online classes, including Winter Term and Summer Sessions, are available;
- Assist in a department-led redesign of the Religion curriculum, including course, minor, and major development and assessment;
- Teach annually (as needed) in the Pursuit, the College’s interdisciplinary humanities program;
- Maintain office hours and provide academic advising and mentorship for students, both majors and non-majors;
- Support recruitment of students for a Religion and Philosophy B.A., and minors in religion and in philosophy;
- Engage in service, including faculty governance committee membership and involvement in college and community life;

Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks applicants for its Director of Housing and Residence Life. The selected candidate will guide, advise, and supervise Catawba’s Office of Housing and Residence Life, further Catawba’s Mission through programs developed and implemented by Housing and Residence Life, and administer the overall educational and managerial responsibilities within the office. The Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for effective management of all College residence hall facility operations and supervision of all residence life functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Directly supervise and facilitate the recruitment, training, and development of Catawba Resident Assistant, the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life, and two Graduate Area Housing Coordinators.
- Consistent with the Catawba Mission and Student Affairs priorities, create and implement a team development plan including but not limited to individual meetings, weekly staff meetings, and team bonding activities.
- Guide Resident Assistants, Associate Director, and Area Housing Coordinators in supporting the departmental mission and vision to cultivate communities focused on a sense of belonging, inclusivity, well-being, academic success, and engaged citizenship.

- Assess student development needs and concerns; work in partnership with Student Affairs staff to interpret, communicate, and enforce Catawba policies, rules, and regulations.
- Adjudicate residence hall-level conduct incidents timely, including notice and hearing of documented incidents.
- Assist with an annual review of the Student Resource Guide and other departmental policies governing student conduct and expectations in the residence halls.
- Ensure compliance with professional and legal standards of due process, risk management, Clery reporting, etc.
- Work closely with the Chaplain’s Office, Catawba counselors, Catawba Public Safety, Student Success, and other campus partners as part of the CARES team to manage the outreach and follow-up for students of concern within a timely manner.
- Coordinate the overall administrative management of Catawba Housing and Residence Life and prepare for administrative processes such as community opening in the Fall and closing at the end of each semester.
- Conduct a monthly walk-through of all residence halls to monitor the physical condition of the buildings with facilities, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Coordinate with staff members to complete scheduled health and safety inspections of student rooms in the Fall and Spring semesters and at the conclusion of the January and Summer terms.
- Manage damage, accountability, and billing process and ensure work orders are submitted for health and safety inspections and closing processes.
- Actively oversee, track, and reconcile the Housing & Residence Life budget monthly, including but not limited to programming, professional development, and training budgets.
- Facilitate the check-in and check-out of residents and maintain room occupancy and process for room changes.
- Serve on Catawba committees at the direction of the Senior Vice-President for the College Experience
- Advise student leadership groups, including advisor for the student organization, Residence Hall Association (RHA)
- Lead Residence Life with fall and mid-year training, Resident Advisor and Area Housing Coordinator selections, staff recognition initiatives, and first-year and upper-class programs
- Participate in on-call rotation with other Residence Life and Housing staff; work cooperatively with Chaplain Office, Catawba Public Safety, Student Health Services, Catawba counselors, and other campus and community resources to provide assistance during emergency and/or crisis situations.

The Director of Planned Giving will work in partnership with the Assistant Vice President and Vice President of Development to develop, plan, and implement a robust planned giving program and assist with additional departmental volunteer management needs. This position is charged with fostering and securing planned, private financial gifts for the College. The Director of Planned Giving is actively engaged in establishing long-term partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with alumni and friends of the College that will result in financial commitments and engagement with the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position include but are not limited to, the following:
- Leads and directs the College’s planned giving program through the marketing, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned giving opportunities to prospective constituents, serving as a resource regarding planned gifts to other Catawba College staff.
- Manages a portfolio of 50-75 prospective and current donors who have the capacity to give $25,000 or more.
- Cultivates, solicits, and receives bequests, devices and gifts from estates, and has knowledge of legal and tax aspects of such gifts.
- Conducts personal visits with prospective donors and their attorneys, accountants, and investment advisors for the legal and tax ramifications of trust and deferred gifts.
- Oversees the acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship of planned gift donors through the Tower Society recognition program.
- Initiates new campaigns to encourage donors to make planned gifts to the College.
- Provides general information on the legal and tax aspects of such gifts to selected donors and those requesting information.
- Prepares detailed plans and calculations to enable donors to make such gifts in coordination with development team, as needed.
- Drafts and prepares gift agreements/documents for review by donors and their advisors in coordination with development team, as needed.
- Work independently and creatively to match donor interests with institutional

SUMMARY:
Provide a variety of duties under the supervision of the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid in support of financial aid office activities. Preference given for a general working knowledge of financial aid policies as well as federal and state regulations for financial aid.
WORK PERFORMED:
Administrative duties such as incoming/outgoing mail processing, responding to incoming calls, office voice mails, office email account, and office supply monitoring/ordering. Tracking all student/parent financial aid required documents in the Banner system. Maintain student financial aid files as required by Federal and State regulations. Supervision of Financial Aid student workers.
Provide financial aid counseling and/or answer inquiries from various sources to include College applicants, current students, parents, and high school counselors. Occasional evening and weekend work for recruitment events as well as Preview Day and Orientation for new students.
Processing, disbursement, reporting and reconciliation of assigned programs. Programs assigned to this position are as follows:

COPs are small groups of clergy and ministers that gather monthly for learning and support. Elements of overseeing the COP program include:
- Working with clergy, religious leaders and national UCC staff. Serve as liaison to local United Church of Christ conference leaders and participate on team of UCC national COP Coordinators
- Recruiting for, communicating with, and providing ongoing support for members and facilitators of small groups.
- Training facilitators for small group work, meet with facilitators bi-monthly for ongoing education and support. Provide ongoing oversight of and support to facilitators.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- During large scale or high priority indoor and outdoor events, operate equipment such as: sound boards, lighting panels, video cameras, video switchers and ensure that all AV elements of each event are of excellent quality.
- Assist in diagnosing and problem solving with all AV equipment and other issues under tight time constraints, including during live events.
- Oversee events-related equipment, ensuring that appropriate equipment is operational and configured to optimal specifications.
- Understand the various AV set-ups in multiple spaces including several theatres, outdoor venues, conference spaces and classrooms.
- Adapt to changes in technology and research technical issues and replacement equipment.
- Use the college's event management software and AV calendar to schedule out necessary preparation and set-up for scheduled events.
- Serve on call for last minute events not on the calendar.
- Assist team in consulting routinely and independently with faculty, staff, students, contractors, performance companies, and others regarding events, providing technical advice, helping with planning, and anticipating needs and support levels.
- Assist in leading student workers, interns and tier one teams in basic AV set-up and problem solving. Instruct others in the selection, use and design of AV materials for event support. Provide individual instruction and support for set-ups.
- Assist with the day-to-day support and maintenance of smart classrooms.
- Help ensure compliance with guidelines regarding ADA, copyright, and Fair Use of media at the college.
- Secondary / backup provider of tier one front line technical support for hardware, software, and networking issues related to campus AV systems. Works with IT ticketing system to resolve these issues.

Position Overview
The Technical Director (TD) serves as a critical member of the Robertson College-Community Center (RCCC) team, bringing technical expertise to all building clients. The TD will manage all technical aspects of the RCCC for diverse programming including concerts, films, live theatre, music, and dance. The TD supervises, trains and mentors a range of technical staff in addition to maintaining and safeguarding the technical assets of the RCCC.
The ideal candidate will excel at working in teams, have strong technical skills and be knowledgeable about all areas of technical theatre operations, including rigging, scenery, lighting, sound, and projection.
The TD is expected to work with a great deal of independence and must exercise independent judgment in performing a wide variety of duties.
The Technical Director (TD) has the daily responsibility for the technical operations of the Robertson College Community Center, including Keppel Auditorium (1500 seat, 48’ Proscenium, Hedrick Little Theatre (230 seat, Thrust) and the Florence Busby Corriher Theatre 100+/- Black Box-Separate building)
Technical Oversight and Execution
- Oversee the scheduling, implementation, and supervision of the technical elements involved in RCCC activities for internal and external clients.
- Review performance riders for all clients ensuring all equipment is planned, budgeted, ordered, and properly staffed by the technical team.
- Supervise and assist with set and stage construction, assembly, and management.
- Supervise and assist with event rigging, load in and load out.
- Maintain safety standards for the RCCC staff and internal and external clients.
- Orient facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics, and other areas of facility operations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Technical Planning and Communications
- Chair the RCCC Operations and Planning Committee. (Members: Shuford School of Performing Arts technical faculty and staff, Director of Catawba Conferences, Salisbury Symphony Technical Director)
- Maintain the stage operations calendar; scheduling time and labor for load in, load out, maintenance and training.

Budget Management
- Chair the RCCC Operations and Planning Committee to develop budget priorities.
- Direct the repair and replacement budget following the priorities established by the RCCC Operations and Planning Committee and the President’s Cabinet.
Team Leadership
- Lead the Stage Operations Team to safeguard the technical assets of the RCCC, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities.
- Lead safety training and certification for all stage operations activities.
- Exercise overall supervision of lighting, sound, and set construction for the theatre and music departments.
- Exercise overall supervision of event load in, setup and strike for building renters based on RCCC policies established by the RCCC Operations and Planning Committee.
- Exercise overall quality control for the training of campus personnel involved in the set-up, maintenance, and operations of events in the RCCC.
General
- Partner with the faculty and staff of the Shuford School of Performing Arts, Catawba Conferences and Events, and Catawba College facilities and maintenance departments where facilities and technical systems overlap.
Compensation:
12 month, full-time position. Compensation commensurate with experience, salary range $50,000-$85,000 annually. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Catawba College is developing a focus on sustainable materials and innovation, and seeks to add a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Physical Inorganic Chemistry to their ranks beginning August 2024. The primary responsibilities of the position will include teaching General, Physical, and Inorganic chemistry, and associated labs, with an opportunity to develop interdisciplinary honors and general education courses for non-science majors. In addition, the candidate is also expected to establish an innovative research program involving undergraduate Chemistry majors. Science faculty are supported through state-of-the-art facilities, a broad range of research instrumentation, and potential for professional development opportunities.
Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in physical or inorganic chemistry or a closely related field. Candidates nearing completion of their degree may be considered. Experimentalists with research interests in the areas of sustainable materials or technology, materials science, nanoscience, next-generation energy technologies, green manufacturing, or sustainability-enhancing technologies are especially encouraged to apply.
