- Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University (2011)
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2000)
- Fully licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with credentials to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia
- Joined Catawba College as the Executive Director of Mental Health and Counseling Services in September 2024
- Experience counseling individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, mood dysregulation, anger management, ADHD, and other mental health diagnosis
With over 14 years of experience in the field of mental health counseling and case management, Brooke has had the opportunity to work in a variety of areas including higher education, community mental health, Veterans Affairs, and private practice. Prior to joining the Catawba College family, Brooke served as the Director of Counseling Services at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC.
Brooke is a member of the North Carolina chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and serves on the chapter’s Ethics Committee. In 2022, Brooke organized the Higher Education Mental Health Collaborative which provides collegiate counseling center directors and leaders in the Central Piedmont region of the Carolinas a supportive network to share and learn best practices and resources.
Originally from Maryland, Brooke moved to Charlotte, NC from the Washington, DC area in 2014. When away from Catawba, Brooke enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pups. Cooking, traveling, crafting, Lego building, and reading are some of Brooke’s go-to self-care activities.
