Chad J. Betters, PhD, LCMHC, BCPCC is Chair of the Department of Sport and Health Sciences, Chair of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, and an Associate Professor at Catawba College. He is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina and nationally board certified Christian counselor, and has over twenty years of experience, academically and clinically, in the counseling arena. Dr. Betters has served the academy teaching counseling and health science curriculum and conducting scholarly work resulting in over a dozen publications and over fifty local, regional, and national presentations. His research interests include faith-based approaches in counseling, marital counseling practices, and stress management approaches. Clinically, he has worked in private practice, treating individuals, couples, and families. Dr. Betters earned his BA at the University of North Florida, and his MHS and PhD at the University of Florida. He spends free time with his wife and children, serves their church working with the youth ministry, and training and competing in martial arts.
