Catawba Hall is limited to 10 junior and senior students, including the RA.
Rising second and third-year students with a GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to apply for a new type of residential living experience, The Green Living Experience at Catawba Hall. Beginning Fall 2025, students will have the opportunity to learn about, and practice, living more sustainable lifestyles through a residential experience. The community will offer events, challenges, and local trips all themed around living a more sustainable lifestyle and developing sustainability literacy. Residents in this community will have the opportunity to explore themes of breaking free from single-use items, building design, gardening, clean energy, and appreciating the value of contributing to the local community. The Center for the Environment, Office of Student Affairs, and an Experience Leader will direct experiences and programming to guide residents in the community.
Residents will be held to the standard of practicing what they learn each month, including adopting sustainable living habits, working collectively to succeed in various sustainability-related challenges, and participating in hall enrichment meetings. The Green Living Experience may also include experiential learning trips, community events, and resources to support the infrastructure necessary for sustainable residential learning.
