In his own words: "Although I am a pure group theorist by training, I spend a lot of time with interdisciplinary pursuits. I have co-authored papers in Economics and Management Theory, as well as within other fields in mathematics. I am certified in the state of North Carolina to teach grades 6 – 12 and so maintain involvement in the public school system.

Personally, I enjoy reading, running, and spending time with my family.  I have run 58 marathons and 55 ultra-marathons (seven of which were over 100 miles).  I travel when I can and participated on a mission team in Guatemala for the past two years through the First United Methodist Church where I am an active member of the Mission Committee.

The Mathematics Department is one of about half a dozen in the country who use the curriculum we have adopted (in fact, department members have helped write the curriculum).  Presently, about half of our graduates go to graduate school, a number go into the public school teaching field, and the remainder works in business and industry or a variety of other areas which require a mathematical mind."
