"While my professional specialization is in Hispanic Linguistics (especially dialectology and historical grammar), I have enjoyed for many years teaching as a "generalist," i.e., teaching courses in language, literature, and culture at all levels. Having lived extensively in Mexico, I have a particular interest in Latin America, and by extension I am an advocate of Latino immigrants to the U.S."

"I occasionally teach English-language courses on Hispanic culture. In addition to Spanish, I speak Portuguese well and Italian somewhat.

When not engaged in teaching, I enjoy hunting, fishing, golf, foreign travel, and writing.  I have published numerous outdoor-related pieces in national magazines and local newspapers as well as humorous and/or nostalgic pieces.  I am the proud father of three adult daughters and grandfather to four wonderful grandchildren."
