Dr. Kim Creamer completed her Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in literacy education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2004. She earned both her MA.Ed. with reading specialist certification and B.A. in education from the College of William and Mary. She has been a classroom teacher in both North Carolina and Virginia. She has served as a writing instructor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an educational consultant specializing in literacy instruction nationwide, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education for Wake Forest University, and an Assistant Professor of Education and Program Coordinator for Elementary Education at Greensboro College.

Dr. Creamer has a strong passion for literacy education and reaching the needs of all students in our schools. Her interests include integration of content curriculum and literacy instruction; historical trends in literacy education and their influence on current practices; serving twice exceptional children in the classroom; and, CLOSE reading and text complexity. She has previously published a book chapter in Best Practices in Literacy Instruction (2003) and an article in Reading Psychology (2009). She has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences, including the Annual Meeting of the North Carolina Association for Research, the National Reading Conference, and the North Carolina Association of Elementary Educators (NCAEE) Annual Elementary School Conference.
