The Catawba College Library offers a variety of services for Catawba students.
Catawba students have a variety of study spaces and learning services available in the library. For a quiet place to study, we provide multiple study rooms, study nooks, and collaborative workstations. To research and browse, we house multiple computer stations on the main floor and Mezzanine, and the bulk of our collection in the lower level. We also offer various research guides, divided by subject to help students get started on projects. Our reference librarians are also available to assist by appointment.
For assistance browsing our collection, finding a course reserve item, checking out a laptop, or for any other information about the library, our Help Desk staff are here to help. If the library doesn’t hold an item a student needs, we’ll be happy to assist in requesting that item through interlibrary loan.

Course Reserves
Your course instructors can place items (such as books and DVDs) on reserve at the library Help Desk. These items are meant for a specific class’s use throughout the semester, and are placed on a limited checkout period. Reserve items can be pulled from one of the library’s collections, or from an instructor’s personal collection. To checkout a reserve item, visit the library’s Help Desk.
Laptop Checkout for Students
Laptop Checkout for Students
There are eight laptops available for checkout to Catawba students, but only one laptop can be checked out per patron. Laptops are loaned for a 48-hour period, and cannot be renewed. Patrons must wait at least 24 hours between laptop checkouts. Additionally, a laptop agreement form must be completed each semester.
Once a laptop is due, a patron has five days to return it, after which the laptop is considered lost, and the patron will be charged replacement fees and overdue fines. Please refer to the Fines and Fees for our laptop replacement policy.
To check out a laptop, please visit the library Help Desk with your Catawba ID.

Study Spaces
The library has five study rooms, as well as multiple study nooks, available for use throughout the building. All are on a first-come, first-serve basis, except for the Writing Center and rooms reserved for study groups or other special requests. Please check for a reserved sign on the door before entering.
Students have priority over other Catawba community members.
We also house eight computer stations in our information commons area, eight computers on the Mezzanine, and multiple study nooks on all floors.
