Megan O. Thompson, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Catawba College in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and licensed school counselor in North Carolina, as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her master’s in counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. Prior to joining Catawba College, Dr. Thompson served as an Adjunct Professor at Regent University. She has also worked with children and adolescents in the school setting, as well as with clients of all ages in her private practice. Dr. Thompson believes in utilizing a person-centered approach, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy and strengths-based approaches to help empower clients to build resilience and mental wellness. Dr. Thompson currently teaches the following courses in the CMHC Program:

- Human Growth and Development
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Mental Health Disorders
- Case Management
- Counseling with Couples and Families
- Counseling Practicum
- Counseling Internship
