Monda Griggs earned her B.A. (1982) and her MA. Ed (1989) at Catawba College. She graduated in the first class of MA. Ed candidates at Catawba. She was a classroom teacher for 36 years in public education, teaching in Pre-K through high school. She has also served as a natural science specialist, curriculum coach, and chemical hygiene officer during her public-school teaching career. She has previously taught and supervised teacher education candidates at Catawba College as well as High Point University. She is a National Board-Certified Educator and holds a lifetime teaching license in North Carolina.

Mrs. Griggs has a strong passion for the teaching profession while building capacity to sustain the profession for the future. She currently works as a curriculum writer, trainer, and advocate for the North Carolina Teacher Cadet Program. She is currently working with the NC Teacher Cadet Program to implement a National Education Association “Great Public Schools” Grant in which she co-authored to encourage and support high school students across North Carolina to learn and experience the science and practice of the teaching profession so that they will consider choosing Education as a future career choice.
