The beloved event draws inspiration from the renowned ritual established in 1919 at King’s College in Cambridge, England. The service blends seasonal carols with scripture readings, telling the story of Christmas through a series of seven lessons. The readings feature contributions from distinguished members of the Catawba community.
The musical program this year includes Once in Royal David’s City, Adam Lay Ybounden, Unto Us a Son is Born, Mary Did You Know?, What Child is This?, Jesus Child, Angels from the Realms of Glory, O Come All Ye Faithful, Carol to the King, In The Beginning, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
This treasured event is made possible through the generosity of the Salisbury-Rowan community, which provides funding for the music and decorations that enhance the spirit of the season.
While tickets are not required, seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A shuttle service will operate from various campus parking lots beginning at 5:30 pm.
