Catawba College Announces Updates to Board of Trustees Following March Meeting

Catawba College is pleased to announce several updates to its Board of Trustees as determined at the Board’s March 2025 meeting, including the election of new officers, the addition of a new member, and the recognition of long-serving trustees with emeritus status.

The board elected new officers with Barbara Marshall ‘72 named chair and Dr. Gerry Frances named vice chair. Bob Arnold concluded his tenure as board chair at the March meeting. Returning officers include Randy Crumpler as corporate secretary and Ron Maccaroni ’79 as treasurer.

Three distinguished members of the Board were named Emeriti Trustees in recognition of their dedicated service and lasting impact on the College: Shuford Abernethy ‘82, Bob Arnold ‘71, and Mona Lisa Wallace. Each has made meaningful contributions to Catawba’s mission and growth, and their leadership will have a lasting legacy.

The Board also approved the reelection of trustees Bill Wagoner and Marvin Moore ’99, continuing their commitment to Catawba’s strategic vision and student-centered mission.

Joining the board as a newly elected trustee is Bob Cundall, who brings over 30 years of leadership experience across the arts, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. Cundall served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and held senior financial and operational leadership roles at major institutions, including the Seattle Art Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design. He currently serves on the boards of the Berkshire Natural Resources Council and Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). Cundall holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

The board is responsible for providing governance and oversight of Catawba College, as well as identifying, delivering, and acting upon matters of strategic importance to the College’s well-being and achieving its mission and goals. Catawba’s Board of Trustees is composed of both Catawba alumni and non-alumni members who represent a diverse range of professional and personal backgrounds, bringing varied viewpoints and coming from various geographic regions.
