Dean of the Ralph W. Ketner School of Business Publishes Research and Earns Prestigious Awards

Imran Chowdhury, Ph.D., Dean and Saleeby Professor of Business Administration at the Ralph W. Ketner School of Business at Catawba College, has been honored with significant professional achievements during the current academic year.

In early March 2025, Dr. Chowdhury latest article, “Interorganizational Citizenship Behaviour, Social Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy, and Entrepreneurial Orientation of Social Entrepreneurs,” was published in the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship. The article examines the impact of business accelerator / incubator support on social entrepreneurs’ self-efficacy and entrepreneurial orientation and was co-authored with colleagues from the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota) and the University of Connecticut.  During the Fall 2024 semester, Dr. Chowdhury was a contributing author to the newly published book, Global Leadership and Wisdoms of the World: Insights from 17 Language Cultures, edited by Dr. Eric Kessler and Dr. Denise Wong-MingJi. Released by Edward Elgar Publishing, the book provides rich insights into leadership across diverse cultures. Dr. Chowdhury’s chapter, co-authored with Paris-based leadership consultant Mr. Mithun Mridha, offers valuable perspectives on global leadership as it is practiced in the French context. Additionally, in August 2024, Dr. Chowdhury received the Outstanding Service Award from the Management Education and Development division of the Academy of Management (AOM), the leading academic association in business and management.  This prestigious award recognizes his exceptional contributions to the field of management education.   In 2023, Dr. Chowdhury received the Best Paper in Business Ethics award from the Social Issues in Management division of the AOM.

Commenting on these achievements, Dr. Chowdhury said, “I feel fortunate to be at Catawba College, which truly values teacher-scholars.  My scholarly work and service to the field of management education are valued at Catawba.  The institution also recognizes that my scholarship and service help me to be stronger in the classroom, a better mentor to students, and a more engaged leader for the amazing Ketner School of Business community.”
