
This year’s first-place winners hailed from Carson High School, demonstrating outstanding problem-solving and technical skills: Landon Patterson, Logan Bryant, Levi Lynch, Caden Seay. The second-place winners represented Carson High School Crystal Quintero, Cyntia Pina Mejia, Brooklynn Rasbach, and Michaela Whitfield and South Rowan High School, showcasing impressive teamwork and innovation were third-place featuring students Brody Thomas, Trevor Walters, Antwana Flippen, and Joseph Saleeby.
A key component of the Hackathon’s success was the mentorship provided by Catawba College students, who guided and supported the high school participants throughout the event. Special thanks to student mentors:

The Hackathon was made possible through the support and dedication of Catawba College’s Department of Mathematical & Computing Sciences and faculty members Drs. Kathy Baker, Gerard De Leoz, Christine Lynn, Sharon Sullivan, and Pam Thompson. Their leadership and guidance played a pivotal role in providing a hands-on, real-world learning experience for these aspiring tech leaders.
“This event continues to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking among students,” said Dr. Imran Chowdhury, dean of the Ralph W. Ketner School of Business at Catawba College. “It’s inspiring to see young minds come together to solve complex problems, and we are excited to see how this competition continues to grow in the future.”
The Ralph W. Ketner School of Business remains committed to providing experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for careers in technology, business, and beyond. Plans are already underway for next year’s Hackathon, promising an even greater challenge for the area’s brightest young innovators.
