Psychology Faculty and Students Shine at SEPA Conference in Atlanta

The Psychology Department is proud to announce its participation in the 2025 Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA) Conference, held recently in Atlanta, Georgia. Faculty and sixteen students attended an engaging program filled with thought-provoking talks and insightful poster presentations, showcasing the breadth and depth of current psychological research.
Dr. Adams presented in a symposium on the Teaching of Psychology.

A standout moment of the conference was a keynote address by the 2024 SEPA Mentor Award recipient Dr. Sheila Brownlow, titled “We’re Data Scientists – That’s Our Superpower!” Her compelling presentation highlighted the essential role of data-driven approaches in psychology. This award and address reflect her tireless commitment to guiding and supporting students within the field of psychology.

In addition, Drs. Brownlow, Klebaur, Riser, and Adams served on the Program committee. Dr. Brownlow also served on the committee to select the 2025 mentor winner and moderated a paper session titled “Mixed Topics (Professional Issues; Therapies)”. Dr. Klebaur moderated a multi-strand posted session titled "Developmental; Gender Roles”. And Drs. Riser and Adams presented in a symposium on the Teaching of Psychology.
