Earlier in the day, the Commission on the Future of North Carolina Elections will hold its final public meeting at noon in the college’s Center for the Environment. The commission will present its final report on critical election issues, including voter access, campaign finance, and election administration, as well as recommendations to enhance electoral integrity and public trust.
In a joint statement, Dr. Michael Bitzer, Jennifer Roberts, and Bob Orr emphasized the urgency of this conversation: “North Carolina stands at a pivotal moment. As a closely watched battleground state, we have a unique opportunity — and a responsibility — to lead the way in fostering trust in our elections. Now more than ever, it is essential to bring people together across political divides, reaffirm our shared commitment to representative democracy, and ensure that every voter has confidence in the electoral process.”
