Hand to God follows Jason, a teenage boy navigating grief and change after the death of his father. When Jason joins his mother, Margery, in a church puppet ministry, he finds an unexpected outlet until his hand puppet, Tyrone, seems to take on a life of its own. What begins as a source of comfort spirals into a chaotic and comedic exploration of desire, faith, and the darker corners of human nature.
The production features senior Haley White as Margery; senior Skye Sterrett-Spencer as Pastor Greg; sophomore Teddy Lepage as Jason/Tyrone; sophomore Grayce Pittman as Jessica; and sophomore Talik Robinson as Timothy.
Behind the scenes, Madison Alwran serves as stage manager. The design team includes sophomore Allie Rahman (set design), Luca Narciso (lighting design), and senior Francine Green-Thomas (puppet design and fabrication).
Hand to God is directed by senior Kian Bannister, a Theatre Arts major at Catawba College who has appeared in past productions including A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Nick Bottom) and Avenue Q (ensemble) and has also contributed to productions through stage management and sound operation.
