2015 Catawba alumna TyNia Rene' Brandon is playing the lead in the Cape Fear Regional Theatre's production of "The Wiz." The show opened January 21 and runs through February 14 at the theatre located in Fayetteville, N.C.
Brandon was cast in the role of Dorothy in "The Wiz," after a classmate from Catawba, Jordan Clifton '15, encouraged her to audition for the role.
Brandon, who hails from Charlotte and is the daughter of Tyrone and Sharon Brandon, was crowned Miss Mecklenburg County 2014 and graduated in 2015 from Catawba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre. After the run of "The Wiz," Brandon plans to move to New York City.
