Drew Roeber of Carrboro, NC was elected as Governor of the American Legion Tar Heel Boys' State Wednesday, June 25 during the week-long event held at Catawba College.  Drew is a rising senior at Chapel Hill High School.  He is the son of Pat and Ellen Roeber.

Being able to represent the interests of the best and brightest young men in the state is a privilege.  It requires the ability to look above party identities. Drew vows to listen to all who wish to speak and raise their opinions. Drew hopes to lead the 75th Boys State to be the best session yet.

The American Legion sponsors a week-long program which mimics the realities of National, State, and local government. Delegates, known as citizens, run for offices across a statewide slate of candidates. The highest office, Governor, represents the interests and ideas of the citizens of the state.

This is the twelfth consecutive year that the event has been held on Catawba's campus and approximately 300 participants, all rising high school seniors from North Carolina, are involved.
