Catawba College celebrated its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Service on Monday, November 23 in the Cannon Student Center. Music Business major Monica "Momo" Ostroska serenaded the crowd with a few songs from her new album "Merry Little Christmas." Then the audience sang along to a wonderful rendition of the "Twelve Days of Christmas" with acting by different groups and organizations on campus. Then the moment arrived that all the kids were anticipating ... Santa.
A new addition to this year's celebration was upbeat Christmas music by the Wind Ensemble. The faculty, staff, students, and families also enjoyed s'mores by campfire, hot chocolate and cider in the snow (courteous of a snow machine) along with decorating cookies and ornaments. Although there was inclement weather, the large Spruce on the front lawn was lit as planned for all to enjoy throughout the holiday season.
