The Catawba College baseball team has partnered with the VS. Cancer Foundation to help the battle against childhood cancer.  The team has been raising money for the foundation with the monies raised being split evenly between the Levine Children’s Hospital and a local hospital.

Those who would like to support this cause with the baseball team can donate online.

On Saturday, April 19, following the doubleheader with Carson-Newman at approximately 6 p.m., the Catawba team will shave their heads as visual support for an end to childhood cancer.  Please help support baseball’s effort by attending the doubleheader and/or donating to the cause.

According to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts and Figures from the 2012, the realities of childhood cancer are difficult to comprehend:

Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of kids 36 children are diagnosed with cancer each day in the U.S. Over 175,000 children are diagnosed annually worldwide Two-thirds of all children who battle cancer have long-lasting side effects Cancer incidence rates have increased annually by 0.6% since 1975
