Three Catawba College alumni are celebrating the Christmas season with news that a comedy radio play they produced, “John Henry Holiday: Christmas Crimes Detective,” is getting radio play, literally. The play, a production of their Boojum Radio Theater, aired on December 14 on Columbus, Ohio’s WCBE 90.5 FM station (WCBE.org).
The Catawba College alumni are Anna Kate Hall ’18 (B.F.A. in Theatre Performance), Shaun Cammack ’16 (B.A. in Popular Music, English minor, Creative Writing minor), and Erich Guebert ’16 (B.S. in Sociology). They came together to create Boojum Radio Theater which they bill as “original radio theatre performed with the utmost sincerity and sin. Absurd, fun, and occasionally crass.”
Since their Catawba graduation in 2016, Shaun and Erich have been traveling and teaching throughout the U.S. and abroad. This past summer, Anna Kate, Shaun, and Erich all found themselves in western North Carolina, and they began collaborating to create Boojum Radio Theatre and their “John Henry Holiday: Christmas Crimes Detective.” Although the recording was completed during the summer, Shaun continued to work through the fall, editing and mixing the show audio so it would sound its best.
With their permission, you too can take a listen to the show:
These Catawba alumni, Shaun and Kate in Chicago, Illinois, and Erich in Madrid, Spain, are already hard at work on their next project, a sci-fi western/adventure.
