"A Raisin in the Sun" will be offered by Evening Star Productions, Inc. , a Charlotte-based production company founded and operated by 2011 Catawba College alumnus Tony Mullins of Charlotte. The production will run at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14 and July 20 and 21 at the Duke Energy Theater at Spirit Square in uptown Charlotte.

The storyline of the play centers on the Younger family. The audience meets them during a major period of transition, as they await a life insurance check that will change their lives. With opposing ideas about how the money should be spent, tensions occur and conflicts appear. The Youngers must call upon the most valuable thing they own, the love of family, to resolve the issues.

Cast members include Tony Mullins as Walter Lee Younger, Jr.; Myrna Chase as Lena (Mama) Younger; Tiffany Renea as Ruth Younger; Donna Steel as Beneatha younger; Robert Jackson as Travis; Rico Tinnin as George Murchinson and Bobo; Kineh N'Gaojia as Joseph Asagai; and Nathan Morris as Karl Linder. Mikey Farrell serves as stage manager for the production.

Tickets, available at the door, are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors, 65 and older, and students.
