Earlier this month, the Catawba College Board of Trustees unanimously elected three new members to the Board, announced William M. Graham ‘83 of Salisbury, Board Chair.
They are James L. Crumel, Sr. ’84 of Tallahassee, FL, Ken Dobler '80 of Charleston, SC, and Ronald J. Maccaroni ’67 of Charlotte, NC.
The Board of Trustees is composed of both Catawba College alumni and non-alumni members who represent a variety of professional and personal backgrounds, bring diverse viewpoints, and come from a range of geographic regions. Currently, the trustees are involved in the MIND BODY SOUL Campaign for Growth, having raised $40.9 million for specific college needs.
James L. Crumel Sr.
James graduated from Catawba College in 1984 with a degree in business and computer science. He later earned his MBA from Nova Southeastern University. James is employed as an Executive with the National Council on Compensation Insurance and lives in Tallahassee, Florida. James is active in his community and in addition to his past service to Catawba has previously served as a member of the March of Dimes Florida Chapter Board and currently serves as Chairman of the Alpha South Education Foundation. He and his wife Tammy are blessed with four sons and one grandson and are members of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Ken Dobler
Ken earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Catawba College in 1980. Ken joined Johnson and Johnson in 1983 as a Sales Representative for Ethicon. In 1991 he joined Ethicon Endo-Surgery, and played a significant role in the company’s growth through leadership positions in Sales and Business Development, Licensing & Acquisitions, and Strategic Planning. Ken also served as Vice President of International Development, Vice President of Worldwide Franchise Development, and a member of the Global Management Board. Ken was later appointed Vice President, New Growth Platforms, Global Medical Solutions Group, within Johnson and Johnson. He retired from Johnson and Johnson in 2014. Ken lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
Ronald J. Maccaroni
Ronald graduated from Catawba College in 1967 with a major in accounting. While attending Catawba, Ron played football. He is a retired Senior Executive Service employee with the U.S. Department of Defense. He had over 35 years of Federal service. After retiring from federal service, Ron was an Adjunct Instructor with two Washington DC organizations teaching and developing courses in federal budgeting, accounting, and general financial management. Ron now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and serves as Treasurer of his church and President of his community association.
