;;;Catawba College's Bookstore, now outsourced to and managed by Follett Higher Education Group, held its grand opening and ribbon cutting Thursday, Nov. 15. This past summer, the bookstore was renovated and expanded as part of the Cannon Student Center renovation, providing more display space for products.

"The bookstore received a complete makeover," said Bookstore Manager Cindy Most. "Along with the textbooks, we're now able to offer a wider variety of products for our students as well as great Catawba apparel and merchandise for students, alumni and friends of the College."

At the bookstore grand opening, musical entertainment was provided by pianist Renee McCachren, chair and professor of music at Catawba, and Paul Oakley, Catawba's director of choral, vocal and sacred music studies, associate professor of music, and college organist, who was joined by a group of students who piped in with outstanding vocal accompaniments. Catawba College student Derek Daisey also provided guitar and vocal entertainment with some of his original music.

There were also drawings for grand opening prizes which were won by Peg Schmalberg, stadium blanket; Andrew Hood, $25 bookstore gift certificate; Henry Pethel, $25 bookstore gift certificate; Andrell Baxter, $50 bookstore gift certificate; and Christopher Sink, RCA 20" TruFlat TV.
