Officials from the Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE), Rowan County Alcoholic Beverage Control, local police, emergency medical services and fire agencies converged near the Chapel lawn at Catawba College on Tuesday for a simulation of an alcohol-related car accident. The event, coordinated through the College's Office of Student Affairs was one of several planned during the week to mark National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week October 20th through October 24th.

Student volunteers took part in the accident simulation which even included a landing at the scene of Carolinas Medical Center's helicopter, Medflight. Members of the campus community gathered around the scene to watch and traffic on West Innes Street during the one-hour simulation was rerouted down Summit Avenue to Yost Street to North Park Drive and then back onto Innes.
