Dr. Barbara Hetrick, vice president and dean of the college at Catawba College, was re-elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS) last week in Boulder, Colorado.
NCHEMS delivers research-based expertise, practical experience, information, and a range of management tools that can help institutions of higher education improve both their efficiency and their effectiveness. NCHEMS has become a major force in state and federal education policy formation in recent years.
Other members of the Board include Dr. Patrick M.Callan, president, The National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education; Dr. Kenneth P. Mortimer, president emeritus of the University of Hawaii system, president emeritus of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and president emeritus of Western Washington University; Dr. Margaret Miller, project director, National Forum on College-Level Learning, University of Virginia, president emerita of the American Association for Higher Education, and executive editor of Change magazine; Dr. Blenda Wilson, President and CEO of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, chair of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, former chancellor of the University of Michigan, former president of California State University, Northridge, and past chair of the American Association of Higher Education Board of Directors; Dr. Peter Ewell, president of the NCHEMS Management Services, Inc., and foremost expert on educational assessment; and Dr. Gordon Davies, former director of the state Council of Higher Education for Virginia, past president of the Kentucky Council on postsecondary Education and author of the influential "The Role of the 21st Century University."
