Catawba College has a new Registrar in place as spring semester of the 2015-2016 academic year begins. College Provost Dr. J. Michael Bitzer announced that Susan Agner, a longtime College employee, has been selected following a national search to fill the position created by the December 2015 retirement of Carol Gamble. Gamble had held the position of College Registrar since 1992.
"We are thrilled that Susan's appointment will allow a smooth and seamless transition in the Registrar's Office," Bitzer said in making the recent announcement. "She brings a deep understanding of college operations and technical expertise that is second to none. She is also a devoted Catawba employee and alumna, something I am sure will be readily apparent to our students and her co-workers on the staff and faculty."
Agner, who joined Catawba in 1985, has most recently served as senior programmer analyst with the College IT Department, where she worked closely with the Registrar's staff during the recent enterprise system (Ellucian Banner) migration and in support of that office's operations. Previously, she served as Catawba's director of administrative computing and programmer analyst, along with serving in the College's Development Office and Career Planning and Placement.
Agner earned her bachelor's degree in computer information systems, magna cum laude, from Catawba in 1997. She has played an active role on the College's Staff Council, serving as past chair. She currently serves on a newly formed Benefits Task Force, appointed by College President Brien Lewis.
Married to husband Terry, a retired law enforcement officer, the couple has three sons, two of whom are Catawba graduates, and a grandson.
