
Gordon A. Kirkland has been named associate dean of admissions at Catawba College. The promotion was announced recently by Dr. Russell Watjen, Catawba’s vice president and dean of admissions.
Kirkland, a native of Salisbury, joined Catawba College in 2000 as assistant director of admissions. Prior to that, he was employed for 15 years as vice president of sales for Marketing Specialists Food Brokerage in Harrisburg, Pa. He was named national broker of the year while managing H.J. Heinz, and won two regional awards while managing the Minute Maid Orange Juice accounts for Coca-Cola Foods.
Educated in the Salisbury City Schools, Kirkland attended the University of North at Chapel Hill before transferring to Catawba College where he graduated with a degree in business administration. He is the son of the late Catawba College Football Coach Gordon Kirkland, the brother of Catawba College Trustee and Alumna Martha West, and father of son, David.
