High-achieving high school seniors to receive recognition for class rankings
Catawba College today unveiled a new scholarship to present to incoming, high school Valedictorians and Salutatorians. Students who achieve either one of these benchmarks will receive a merit scholarship from the Office of Admissions for their consistent, high academic achievements throughout high school. The new academic merit awards range from $1,000 to $1,500.
As costs for college increase, it is important to continue to find new ways to recognize and reward high-achieving high school students in order to keep costs affordable. "Catawba College has always been and continues to be dedicated to finding new ways to help students and their families afford an outstanding education," remarked Lois Williams, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Catawba College. Catawba boasts that more than 90% of all of its students as recipients of some sort of financial aid. "I am very pleased to announce that Catawba has once again recognized and answered a need to reward a special group of high-achieving students; our Valedictorians and Salutatorians," Williams said.
"Awarding this scholarship will be quite easy," said Melanie McCulloh, Director of Financial Aid at Catawba College. "Each student who qualifies for the new Valedictorian or Salutatorian scholarship will receive notification from his or her individual Admissions Counselor. Students who qualify will need to present a final high school transcript noting their top-ranking status to the Office of Admissions," continued McCulloh.
"The new scholarship falls right in line with Catawba's commitment to providing personal attention in not only the Office of Financial Aid, but also the same type of personal attention students will receive from faculty in classrooms and various other offices," McCulloh said.
