School of Performing ArtsThe Catawba Community Music Program hosted several spring recitalEvents for students enrolled in the program. Piano recitals were held Sunday, May 18 in the Peeler Crystal Lounge at Catawba College. Students represented the piano studios of Community Music Piano Faculty members including Tina Brown, Erin Harper, Susan McClain and Angela Robbins. Students participating included Maryn Miles, Elena Turnbull, John Louis Dunham, Daniel Engwall, Sarah Lynn Carlton, Max Patel, Max Fisher, Matt Washko, Mimi Webb, Grace Steinman, Amelia Steinman, Chloe Burks, Meghan Maxey, Julia Honeycutt, Kayla Honeycutt, Asia Kemp, Ike Emerson, Alexis Kemp, Kathryn Swaim, Samantha Washko, Anna Flynn, Madeline Hoskins, McKenzie Stevens, Alex Reed, Sam Shores, Jessica Walters, Allison Murphy, George Mobley, Rachel Hopler, Gabe Steinman, Mason Jennings, Jarvis Vinson, Maryclaire Farrington, Nathan Malnar, Kendall Welch, Callie Alexander, Hannah Smith, Grace Faller, Jonathan Barbee, Amy Leonard, Ann Fisher Lindsay, Tom Ansboro, Jennie Kribbs, Taylor Morris, Gillian Morris and Alex Thomas.
A recital for students in the Pre-Piano class, instructed by Angela Robbins, was held Tuesday, May 13 in the Music Annex at Catawba College. Students participating included Grace Chamberlain, BeBe Dunham, Victoria Jones, Logan Stach, Jeremy Geter, Kevin Sullivan and Anna Patel.
A concert for the new ensemble, The Catawba Youth Wind Ensemble, was held Sunday, May 18 in the Hoke Music Annex at Catawba College. The ensemble is co-directed by Debbie Koontz and Dr. Steve Etters. Members of the ensemble who participated in the concert included Flute: Laura-Katherine Barker; Clarinet: Eli Duncan, Sydney Gardner; Alto Saxophone: Rayford Harrison, Marshall Wood; Trumpet: Chad Carl, Silas Moorefield, David Weaver; Trombone: Andy McLendon, Matthew Smith, Zachary Weaver; and Percussion: Nathaniel Carl and David Duncan.
The Catawba Children’s Choir presented a May Day Recital on May 1 in the Hoke Music Annex at Catawba College. Directed by Amy Joye-Bailey and accompanied by Dr. Julie Chamberlain, the ensemble members participating in the program included Chloe Burks, Elly Burks, Ann Fisher Lindsay, Grace Steinman, MacKenzie Wagamon, Katherine Paul, Anna Chamberlain, Grace Chamberlain, Kendra Key, Erica Archer, Seth Wolter, Ariel Wolter and Sarasota Serulneck.
