The Catawba College Community Music Program is pleased to announce the addition of Daniel Skidmore to its faculty. Beginning in September, Dan will serve as an instructor of violin through private, semi-private, and class lesson formats to students of all ages and ability levels in the community. His former teaching experiences include teaching strings at other institutions including Appalachian State University, UNC- Greensboro, and the Eastern Music Festival.
Through his current position as Concertmaster for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Dan is respected as a performer and soloist. He also has served as Concertmaster and soloist with the UNC-Greensboro symphony and West Virginia University Symphony. His other orchestral and chamber music experiences include performances with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony Orchestra. Dan’s other professional accomplishments include published music arrangements and transcriptions, as well as professional recordings.
He currently is completing requirements for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His other degrees include the Bachelor of Music degree from West Virginia University and the Master of Music degree from Northwestern University.
The Catawba College Community Music Program is currently registering students for fall semester classes and lessons in violin and in other instruments including piano, guitar, percussion, strings, winds, and trumpet. Instruction begins September 7.
