Dr. Aaron B. Butler, assistant professor of English in the School of Evening and Graduate Studies at Catawba College, recently delivered a paper entitled "Beowulf Then and Now: Women and Warriors in the Old English Poem and in Robert Zemeckis's Film Adaptation" at the annual conference of the Mid-Atlantic Popular American Culture Association.
The conference took place in Alexandria, Virginia from October 28-30, and it was attended by scholars in various disciplines who traveled from colleges and universities in the eastern United States and Canada.
Butler has a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His specialties are Early Modern Literature and Shakespeare, and he has taught at Catawba College since 2001.
