SALISBURY, N.C. – Members of the Catawba College Psychology Department faculty will attend the 50th annual meeting of the Southeastern Psychological Association in Atlanta, Ga. in early March. Additionally, eight students, each of whom has co-authored at least one research presentation, will attend the conference.

Catawba College research presentations and their authors which will be featured at the conference include the following:

“College performance predictors for athletes and non-athletes after three-years” and “A computer-based intervention to enhance the physical, cognitive, and psychological health of older adults” by Dr. Lyn T. Boulter and student Heather N. Chocklett, a senior from Lexington;

“To touch or to be touched? That is the question” by Dr. Karen L. Horner and students A. Brooks Gleason, a senior from Winston-Salem, and Alexander O. Lopez, a senior from Rockwell;

“Can self-efficacy beliefs nullify stereotype threat in women athletes?” by Dr. Sheila Brownlow and students Stephanie Valentine, a senior from Charlotte, and Alvin M. Owusu, a junior from Powder Springs, Ga.;

“Techniques of self-enhancement manifested in the name-letter effect” by Dr. Sheila Brownlow and students Mary Attea, a senior from Kenmore, N.Y., and Alexander O. Lopez, a senior from Rockwell;
