Catawba College history major, Lucas R. Safrit of Salisbury, is a N.C. Transportation Museum historical interpreter who has served there as a volunteer and employee for more than 11 years.  He’ll be sharing his knowledge about different steam and diesel locomotives that traversed the Saluda Grade at the Saluda Historic Depot on Main Street in Saluda beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 16.

Safrit’s talk, part of Saluda Train Tales, is a free monthly event to educate the community of the importance of Saluda’s railroad history and the Saluda Grade.  These events are free and open to the public. The Saluda Historic Depot is a 501(c)3 non profit.
