Beginning  Monday, February 3, 2014, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT)  & Crowder Construction will close West Innes Street (SR 2200) in Salisbury  in order to begin construction of the new bridge over Grant's Creek just north  of Catawba College. This construction is scheduled to last until August  31, 2014.

While  the road will be closed to thru traffic during this construction period,  visitors to Catawba College may still access the campus via W. Innes Street if  their approach is from the downtown Salisbury area, from Mahaley Avenue turning  right onto W. Innes Street, or from Statesville Boulevard turning left onto W.  Innes. Campus visitors coming south on  U.S. 601 from the Mocksville area will follow NCDOT detour signs that will  bring them in from Statesville Boulevard where they will turn left onto W.  Innes Street to access the college.

Although  the Catawba College campus will still be accessible during the construction  period, the location of the detour signs will be such that some who are  unfamiliar with the Catawba College campus may think that it is inaccessible. Traffic  wishing to access Catawba College, businesses on W. Innes Street, or residences  beyond the detour signs may still do so from either side of the bridge, but  will not be able to pass beyond the closure points.
