Dr. Renee McCachren, chair of the Catawba College Music Department, was a contributor to the recently published, two-volume Encyclopedia of the Romantic Era, 1760-1850. McCachren authored an article entitled, “Eroica 1803, Symphony N. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven.”
Fitzroy Dearborn published the Encyclopedia in January, 2004. According to the introduction of the volumes, “It is a cultural encyclopedia covering the last decade of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century in Britain, continental Europe, and the Americas. Its aim is to provide a broad-ranging guide to the profound changes in thought, sensibility, and expression that occurred during this era.”
