Catawba College Sophomore Derek Daisey of Milton, Del., released his debut CD, "All Behind Me," in mid-April and was feted April 30th with an on-campus reception.
Daisey, a 20-year-old music business major, wrote and performed the songs on the CD which he describes as "full of coarse realities, strong harmonies, inspired guitar riffs and captivating hooks." Daisey was introduced to music producers, Alan Grossman and Jimm Mocher of Hit Music, Inc., last September. The two worked with him for six month to create his new CD, "All Behind Me," which is available via his website, www.derekdaisey.com.
Born in Ft. Myers, Fla., Daisey began singing and mastering the guitar at age 13 after having been heavily influenced by John Rzeznik and the musical styles of the Goo Goo Dolls. Listening to music, he says, offered him "a relieving escape at times during adolescence," but writing songs "liberated demons through rhymes and captivating melodies." He began constructing his own library of songs and other emotional conceptions.
