Two Catawba College students who serve as tutors for the Writing Center, Meagan Kittle and Caitlin Springs, attended the Southeastern Writing Center Association Conference in Savannah, Georgia, February 7-9, along with the director of the Writing Center, Dr. Aaron Butler.

The three presented a poster entitled "To the Library and Beyond: Exploring New Locations and Offering New Resources," which illustrated through graphics and text ways in which they expanded the Writing Center's services this year, including holding some tutoring hours in the newly renovated Corriher-Linn-Black Library; providing handouts on various aspects of writing, such as documenting sources correctly, avoiding sentence structure problems, and using punctuation properly; and conducting workshops to teach groups of students about writing effective exam essays.

Meagan Kittle of Winchester, Ontario, is a senior English major and Honors program student at Catawba and was recently awarded one of the two Whitener Medals for her outstanding academic accomplishments and contributions to the college. Caitlin Springs of Santa Clara, Calif., is a sophomore majoring in Theatre and is also a student in the Honors program.
