Catawba College's American Chemistry Society Student Affiliates Chapter has received a Commendable Chapter Award for its 2008-2009 activities. The Chapter Advisor, Dr. Mark Sabo, professor of chemistry at the college, received notification of the award Sept. 8th.
Catawba's chapter was recognized for "finding ways to serve the community outside of chemistry-related activities" through its work with local scouts and through service projects such as blood drives. The chapter also participated in local and national meetings, presenting club activities and student research, and hosted several social functions for its members through the year.
