Jay Meachum, an adjunct professor of trumpet at Catawba College and director of the Catawba Pride Marching Band, will be the featured guest artist with the Wake Forest University Jazz Ensembles at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13 in Brendle Recital Hall at Wake Forest University.
In mid-March, Meachum, a member of the John Brown Jazz Orchestra, performed in schools in western North Carolina as part of the N.C. Arts Council's cARTwheels tour, to introduce elementary students to Jazz and Big Band Music. It was the third year in a row that the John Brown Jazz Orchestra made such a performance tour.
Meachum and the other members of the John Brown Jazz Orchestra are featured in a short film called "One Night in Kernersville," which was selected for inclusion in the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival to be held in Durham, N.C., later this year.
Earlier in March, Meachum also played trumpet with the Charlotte Symphony, backing the Motown group, the Four Tops, as they performed at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte.
