Special news from Keith Engwall, faculty sponsor of ONE Catawba:

Late in the fall, I sent out an invitation for the Catawba community to get involved in the ONE Campus Challenge, so that we could send a representative to the Power 100 Summit. Thanks to the involvement of the Catawba community, we rocketed from over 300th place to 14th place in less than two weeks, and secured a spot at the summit.

Aileen Thomson was selected as our representative, and attended the summit earlier this month. She has been kind enough to share her experience there, and I want to, in turn, share it with you. Please take a moment to read through Aileen's account of the summit, posted in the 2008 student blogs section of the website.

Also, mark your calendars for next Wednesday, January 16 at 5pm. ONE Catawba is holding a meet & greet at the newly renovated Library in the Mezzanine at 5pm, and you are invited. This is a chance for members of the Catawba community who are interested in getting involved both locally and globally to get together and meet each other. We'll talk briefly about our new organization and what we'd like to accomplish this semester (both in terms of doing some good and in having fun doing it), as well as some of the opportunities that are before us. Plus, the library will have free coffee, courtesy of the Lilly Center. Come and hang out with us for a bit, and bring a friend.
