Catawba College student athlete Victoria Hedrick of Lexington, N.C., is having the internship of a lifetime this summer. This golfer, an Integrated Marketing Communication major, landed a choice internship with the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills Country Club in Erin, Wisconsin.
Hedrick’s experience runs from May 14 through June 28. During it, she and 18 other interns will be working in the Merchandising and Sales Department for the 117th U.S. Open, slated June 12-18. Most of these interns will have logged 40-100 hours of work each week leading up to the tournament.
Hedrick says she will be clothed in Ralph Lauren golf apparel while at work in the U.S. Open’s Merchandise Pavilion and will actually have an opportunity to play the Erin Hills course after the tournament. She shared a link to a news segment that aired in late May on a Fox affiliate station in Wisconsin that showed her and several other U.S. Open interns modeling the latest golf fashions.
She writes that her experience thus far “is fantastic!”
