Catawba junior Dana Hicks (York, SC/Gaston Day) has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 21, 2010. It was announced by the league office on Monday.
Hicks helped Catawba split a pair of road games last week as she posted double-doubles in both outings. She scored 27 points with 12 rebounds in a two-point loss at Barton then followed with a 25-point, 13-rebound effort in a victory at Mount Olive.
Against Mount Olive, Hicks canned 9-of-11 from the field and hit on 7-of-8 at the line. Hicks averaged 26 points and 12.5 rebounds over the two games last week, while adding eight assists, four steals and a blocked shot. She connected on 65.6 percent of her field goal tries.
Hicks, who averaged a double-double last season, has picked up where she left, averaging nearly 20 points and just over 10 rebounds a game to open this season. Catawba plays its home opener against Livingstone on Tuesday night then host the Comfort Suites Classic this coming weekend.
