It was all about bird-watching when Dr. Joe Poston, an associate professor of biology at Catawba, and students in his spring semester Ornithology class made a recent trip to the Eastern part of North Carolina.
The trip took the group to the Weymouth Woods-Sandhills Nature Preserve near Pinehurst, where they reportedly were excited to see some endangered Red-cockaded Woodpeckers. They also visited Carolina Beach State Park, where they spent two nights camping, the Fort Fisher Aquarium, Southport, and Sunset Beach.
